There are around 2000 ancient Hindu temples in Nepal. The oldest temple in Nepal is Changunarayan, which is dedicated to the Hindu God Narayan (Vishnu), and it dates back to the 5th century.

Hindus worship different female goddesses as well. In Dashain, they worship pray and chant the mantra of Nava Durga. Mahakali, Bhagwati, Kagtayeni to name a few. Hindus believe Nava Durga is very powerful and she fulfils their entire wish. 

Other popular deities are Lakshmi for wealth, Saraswati for Knowledge, and Ganesh for luck. Likewise, Krishna who is believed to be the human incarnation of Lord Vishnu is also worshipped widely. Vedas, Upanishads, and other holy scriptures are read by Hindu pundits on various occasions. Ramana and Mahabharat are read widely.

Hinduism expects its practitioners to visit sacred places for religious purposes such as receiving the blessing of a particular God or Goddess, purifying oneself from the sins committed, or collecting merit. Hinduism has a wider sense of understanding of pilgrimage. 

BUDDHISM: Visiting temples, monasteries, stupas, and other pilgrimage sites introduces the visitor to several spiritual aspects.

Buddhist pilgrimage is popular among spiritual tourist who seeks peace within. Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. It is a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site, which includes many other sacred sites such as Kapilvastu – Tilaurakot situated towards the western part of Lumbini, Devdaha situated towards the eastern part of Lumbini, Ramgram (the famous stupa with Buddha's relics).
