15 days ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK
‘Adventure to the base of world’s tenth highest Mt. Annapurna-I’

15 days Annapurna Base Camp and the Mountain Views

15 The Annapurna Base Camp trek is a moderately short and scenic adventure, as well as altitude friendly compared to other over 8,000 meters mountain base camps. Which makes the adventure more enjoyable from the start to the end of walks, facing unbelievable views of snow-capped peaks. The walk follows through lovely traditional mountain villages inhabited by the Gurung, the main tribes of the Annapurna Himalaya range.

As the walk progresses, the climb leads to a serene cool forest of rhododendrons, pines, and fir tree lines with bamboo stalks. The views of Annapurna peaks remain constant during the walks, the walk enters the Modi River gorge. The adventure continues following the Modi River upstream right up to its glacial source at base camp.

Then the walk slowly climbs to enter the picturesque Annapurna Sanctuary, enclosed by an amphitheatre of snow peaks. Where tree lines disappear for an arctic zone of ice and glaciers on reaching Annapurna Base Camp. The only base camp around the Himalayas, with facilities of nice lodges on the foot of the world’s tenth highest peaks.

You will love this walk passing through deep woods, natural waterfalls,  terraced farmlands, alluring local settlements, and thrilling vantage points. Ascending up to Machhapuchhre Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp and witnessing Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and other beautiful mountain peaks are incredible at the sunrise.

An interesting fact about Annapurna Base Camp and Mt. Annapurna-I at 8,091 m and 26,545 feet high. The first eight thousand meter peaks ever climbed, a record in mountaineering history, summited by the French Expedition.
The expedition was led by the late Maurice Herzog made the ascent on June 03rd, 1950. Three years before Mt. Everest was conquered by Tenzing and Hillary in 1953 on May 29th.

Annapurna Base Camp is quite different from other Himalayan destinations, where trekkers can enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery; in the comfort of a cozy lodge. The most exciting about Annapurna Base Camp and the Sanctuary is the change in diverse landscapes, vegetation, and climate.
Trekkers will be surprised to experience such a varied wide difference on daily walks from low warm farm areas. Then entering the cold arctic zone of remorseless fields of ice and glaciers at Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp.

Annapurna Conservation Area, the largest protected area in the world, will be another exciting destination to explore. The entire Annapurna Base Camp Trekking trail is based in Annapurna Conservation Area and protected by it.

Overlooking the spectacular panorama of Annapurna's array of peaks from Mt. Annapurna-I, III, and IV with majestic Machhapuchare Himal.
Includes views of A-South, A-Fang or Vara Shikar and Huin-Chuli, Tent peak / Tharpu Chuli with massif Gangapurna Himal.

Actually, 15 the Annapurna Base Camp trek is completely distinct from the Annapurna Circuit Trek and Mardi Himal Trek. The flavour of trekking to Annapurna Base Camp is never ever given by other trekking trails located in the same region.

Having a great overwhelming experience at Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m, the highest point of the adventure, return journey downhill. Reaching back into dense vegetation and tall tree lines, the walk leads to Chomrong, a large village after Ghandruk.

Slowly the walk comes to an end with a refreshing time in the natural hot spring at Jhinu Danda village. From the last high hill village on a motorable road to scenic Pokhara where our wonderful adventure at Annapurna Base Camp completes.

15 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek Required Permits
The trek route requires two different types of permits. These are the Annapurna Conservation Area Entry Permit and TIMS ( Trekking Information Management System) Card. The TIMS Card costs USD 20 and ACAP Entry Permits costs USD 30. You can obtain these two Annapurna Base Camp Trek  Permits through your local travel partner you are using for your Nepal trip or you can collect them directly. Simply provide your travel partner with a copy of your passport and some recent photographs, and they will get the permits for you.

15 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek Food and Accommodation
Until Pokhara, trekkers will enjoy luxury accommodation and they can have the food items they like. But, when they ascend up to Ulleri and Poonhill-Ghorepani, or when they ascend up to Jhino Danda, they may not have such a chance to have the accommodation and food items. However, don’t be sad, there are plenty of lodges and guesthouses to organize your accommodation and food. Moreover, your guide will manage your beautiful food and accommodation for you during the trek. The local guesthouses and the lodges will offer you food items with certain criteria with prices mentioned in the menu during your 15-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Note: Sometimes, it may be difficult to find the right accommodation during two peak trekking seasons in Nepal: Autumn( Sep-Nov) and Spring ( Mar-May).

15 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek Transportation
If you are starting the trek from Kathmandu, you will have two options: air and land and if you are starting it from Pokhara, then, you have only one choice that island. The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is 40 minutes maximum and the road trip is 7-8 hours. Even, the road gets disturbed by heavy traffic and other issues. So, flight is recommended.

After you get to Pokhara, you again have to drive to Nayapool/Birethanti for 2 hours or directly drive to Ghandruk if you are following another trail and begin the hiking. While returning back from Annapurna Base Camp, you can drive directly from Ghandruk to Pokhara and Pokhara to Kathmandu. ( Flight from Pokhara is optional and still can be done in request)

15 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek Guide and Porter
You require hiring at least a guide for your 15-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Without a guide, you are not permitted to do Poonhill Trek or further to Annapurna Base Camp.

The guide will be very helpful with government Licenses, coordinating the local flora and fauna, Entire Mountain views, well-known precautions, and local culture and speak English very well. But, if you are making a trip to the mountains, it may be difficult to get a hot shower during the trip.  However, local lodge and guesthouses will offer you a bucket shower with warm water or they will provide a hot shower with cooking gas. If you want to do enjoy the hotel shower in the mountain, you can ask the local lodge owner to manage it for you and they will charge some money like Rs. 300-500 per individual.

Communication

You can enjoy excellent facilities of communication in Kathmandu. However, in the case of the trekking trip in the mountains, you may not be able to have such kind of facility as in the cities. But, most of the local teahouses/lodges/guesthouses/ hotels on the trail will offer you the facility of  Wi-fi. Sometimes, you get it for free and sometimes, you may have to pay for the installation of Wi-fi during the trip in the mountains.

The best way to access good communication over your smartphone is to get a local Nepali SIM Card like NT and NCELL. You get these local Nepali SIM Cards easily in Kathmandu and even in International Airport, Tribhuvan International Airport. For this, you have to present a copy of your passport and a passport-sized- photograph. You can buy a data pack via this local SIM Card and you make a very good communication.  You can make a call, and access the internet over it.

Trek Ends

Our trek ends at the  Phedi (1130 m). You Walk down to Phedi via Dhampus where you can enjoy beautiful mountain views. Walk all the way down to Phedi and get on board a private vehicle. The Haven Holidays Team arrange your transportation back to Pokhara. Pokhara An exciting drive of one hour to reach Pokhara, you will pass through beautiful villages with flat roads to enter the Pokhara Valley and city. On reaching the Pokhara Fewa lakeside, enjoy the comfort of a nice lovely hotel.  Afternoon at leisure for individual activities and stroll around the Lakeside.

 Feedback

You can give feedback on the trek/trip you have undertaken at the end of Kathmandu. You can visit our office or you can do it in the farewell dinner we organize. Your feedback about the trip will always be taken positively. We need it to grow and sharpen our services and facilities in the coming days.

If you cannot attend the farewell dinner at the end of the trip in Kathmandu or you don’t have time to visit our office, you can write your feedback on the trip advisor page which will be more reliable and public.

Trek Extra Personal Expenses

How prodigal you are? Your trek extra personal expenses depend on it. If you love doing extra expenses on the trip, you will go to topics like alcoholic drinks, extra tea or coffee apart from the meal, tipping, some minor donations, extra snacks on the trail, some urgent personal stuff like clothing or any other equipment you immediately require on the trip in case it gets damaged or stop functioning. And, at the end of the trek, you have to give some tips to your trekking crew. For this, you have to allocate some dollars or Nepali currency.

Typical Day

The typical trip day begins with a good breakfast. You will have breakfast at around 7-8 am and begin the day after it. Then, you will have to work/walk for 3-4 hours after breakfast and you will stop for lunch. The lunchtime will be around an hour. You will order your lunch item and the restaurant/hotel/teahouse will cook for you. Sometimes, you may have to wait for some time if the restaurant or hotel is crowded. You can find the item you want in the menu prepared by the local lodge/restaurant/hotel. If you are vegetarian, no worries, you can still find the ways.

After lunch, you will resume your work/trek/trip again and end it in the after like around 3-4 pm. After that, you will check in the hotel/guesthouse/teahouse and get refreshed. Take rest, change clothing and go for dinner at around 6-7 pm. Your leader will help you to order the meals you like. At the dinner, your leader will share the important information for the next day’s trip and you can raise the question regarding it. The leader will orient you on what to wear, how to walk, what to carry and where to eat. Follow the instructions from the guide/leader very well.

Trekking with Ram Chandra and Haven Holidays!!!

I am no expert on trekking in Nepal, but I can strongly recommend a wonderful guide named Ram Chandra. By Chance I found him while merely searching for a trekking guide. I am out first handshake I fell into a relaxed trek. From Kathmandu to ABC and back Ram Chandra was one step ahead of my curiosities. Perceptively he provided excellent service and tended to my needs with grace. He is always in good spirit. he is at peace with life and enjoys sharing smiles. For days we would trek smoothly with animated conversations about political humor, worldly family values and philosophy. When the trails got steep and difficult we would sing Nepali Love Songs to ease the struggle. After a week, i came to consider him a brother. As we are both young I hope our friendship is only beginning. I hope luck will allow me to return to Nepal again with many friends to spend time with Ram Chandra in the Himalaya again. I wish him good luck with business and in finding people as kind as light hearted as he is. Good Luck !
