not recommend you to go with local bus.
The tourist bus ride takes 6-7 hours, private jeep or car takes 4-5 hours to get Pokhara from Kathmandu. But, if you choose to fly to Pokhara from Kathmandu, it takes only 35 minutes. After getting to Pokhara, you can instantly begin your Punhill Trek.
After you get to Pokhara city from Kathmandu, you can take a sharing jeep ride toUlleri or Banthanti and can walk up to Ghorepani village ( 2800m) and you will make final climb up to Poonhill (3210m) to see sunrise and breathtaking Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre. So, again, after you reach the Poonhil, you walk directly back to Pokhara along the same trail or can go with other trail via Tadapani and Ghandruk villages. If you walk down along the same trail, you will again take another jeep ride back to Pokhara or if you go to toher side like Tadapani and Ghandruk, you will take a jeep or local bus ride from Ghandruk to Pokhara and do the same as you did before for returning Kathmandu.
Poonhill Trek is a 4-5 days trekking
trip in Nepal located in popular Annapurna region. This duration is from
Kathmandu to Kathmandu. But if you are already in Pokhara, you can just
allocate 3 days for our Punhill Trek. The 3 days will be enough for it to
witness marvelous mountain panoramas including Dhaulagiri, Annapurnas, Machhapuchhre,
Manaslu and Ganesh Himal from the top of Poonhill.
The Poonhill Trek commences from Nayapool/Birethanti.
Or optionally, you can go up to Ulleri or Bantahnti by sharing jeep ride and
can begin the trek formally from either Ulleri or Bantahnti. You will ascend up
to 3210m which is Poonhill, the highest elevation this trek within 2 days. If
you want to return back following the same trail, you can walk back to Pokhara
on the same day and if you don’t want this, you can trek to Tadapani and then
to Ghandruk village and you will finally return back to Pokhara.
If you combine your Poon Hill Trek with
Chitwan activities, this idea will be a rewarding as you can relax and rest there
in Chitwan after Poonhill Trek with exciting Chitwan activities including jungle
safari.
