It is a strenuous trek because the trekkers are venturing into the wild mountains in the remote areas of Nepal where there are no good facilities for food and accommodation and most importantly, they are ascending above 5000m which is Larkya La Pass, (5106m) the highest elevation of this trek. Moreover, most of the trekking days will be spent above 4500m high in Manaslu Circuit Trek. So, the remoteness and the trekking to a high altitude above 5000m make this trek challenging and strenuous.

Foods and Accommodation
The food and accommodation you are going to use during 16 days  Manaslu Circuit Trek will be very ordinary but sufficient and fresh enough. Relatively, the Manaslu Circuit trek food and accommodation will be poorer than in the other treks like Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

The accommodation will be in local people’s Loudge which is basic and small but neat and clean. The food items you are going to have will be made by the local people. There won’t be any highly professional cooks to cook your food for the trek. However, you sufficiently survive and they prepare properly cooked and hygienic. Here, we suggest you bring some light snacks with you so that you won’t go hungry. And, for Accommodation, you can carry your sleeping bag or ask the travel company to provide it for you.

Required Permits
One requires obtaining four different permits for 16 days of Manaslu Circuit Trek. These permits are: Manaslu Conservation Area Entry Permit, TIMS ( Trekking Information Management System), Annapurna Conservation Area Permit and Restricted Area Permit since the Manaslu Trekking route is a restricted area trek. This trek route is a restricted area because the trail is based on the border between Nepal and Tibet and due to security issues, it is a restricted area. These trekking permits are easily obtained by your travel company located in Nepal for you. It requires at least people to obtain a restricted area permit. So, if you are a solo traveller, you have to find another company to obtain it.

Trek Starts

Trek starts from  Machha Khola in the Manaslu region and is an exciting adventure! The Manaslu Circuit Trek is renowned for its stunning scenery, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural experiences. Starting from Machha Khola, the trail gradually ascends through lush forests, terraced fields, and remote villages, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, including Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world. Machha Khola is a popular starting point for treks in the region.

Electricity

You will get a good and undisturbed facility of electricity during the trip to Nepal., you can get the facility of electricity to charge your phones and backups. However, in some cases, you may have to face the problem of load-shedding and technical problems. The guesthouses may charge you some amount to charge your devices in remote areas trekking. There won’t be an electricity heating system in the mountain while doing trekking.

Drinking Water

Drinking water must be pure, safe and contamination-free. You can get bottled or purified drinking water during the trip even in the mountain which is very safe for you to drink. The majority of the people who make trekking or adventure trips in the mountains go with boiled water which is prepared by the local lodges/guesthouses on the trail which is the best way to keep you safe from contaminated water. However, some people carry water purifying ingredients and they apply it to the drinking water and they drink it. But, don’t try to drink the water from the Local River, stream and taps. The bottled water you can buy along the trek in the guesthouse.

Communication

You can enjoy excellent facility of communication in Kathmandu and in other major cities like Chitwan, Pokhara, Nagarkot and Lumbini. However, in case of trekking trip in mountain, you may not be able to have such kind of facility like in the cities. But, most of the local teahouses/lodges/ guesthouses/ hotels on the trail will offer you the facility of  Wi-fi. Sometimes, you get it for free and sometimes, you may have to pay like Rs.100-200 per device for the installation of Wi-fi during the trip in the mountain.

In the remote area trekking like Manaslu Circuit Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek, Kanchenjungha Circuit Trek and Upper Mustang Trek, they charge certain amount like Rs.200-400 per device for the installation of Wi-fi at the local lodges. Otherwise, in Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek, they don’t charge you the money for the facility of Wi-fi, they will offer you for free.

The best way to access good communication over your smart phone is getting local Nepali SIM Card like NT and NCELL. You get these local Nepali SIM Cards easily in Kathmandu and even in International Airport, Tribhuvan International Airport. For this, you have to present the copy of your passport and a passport sized- photograph. You can buy datapack via this local SIM Card and you make a very good communication wherever you go, even from the corner of the mountain.  You can make a call, you access internet over it and even make a video call instantly from the Everest Base Camp (5364m) and even from Larkya La Pass (5106m) in Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Trek Ends

Your journey typically ends at Dharapani. Dharapani is where the Annapurna Circuit route intersects with the Manaslu Circuit. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a breathtaking journey around the eighth-highest mountain in the world, Mount Manaslu. Along the way, trekkers pass through remote villages, lush forests, high mountain passes, and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, experiencing the rich culture and stunning scenery of the region

Finally, you will drive back from Dharapani to Besishahar with a jeep.

Trek Extra Personal Expenses

ow prodigal you are? Your trek extra personal expenses depend on it. If you love doing extra expenses on the trip, you will go to topics like alcoholic drinks, extra tea or coffee apart from the meal, tipping, some minor donations, extra snacks on the trail, some urgent personal stuff like clothing or any other equipment you immediately require on the trip in case it gets damaged or stop functioning. And, at the end of the trek, you have to give some tips to your trekking crew. For this, you have to allocate some dollars or Nepali currency.

Typical Day

The typical trip day begins with a good breakfast. You will have breakfast at around 7-8 am and begin the day after it. Then, you will have to work/walk for 3-4 hours after breakfast and you will stop for lunch. The lunchtime will be around an hour. You will order your lunch item and the restaurant/hotel/teahouse will cook for you. Sometimes, you may have to wait for some time if the restaurant or hotel is crowded. You can find the item you want in the menu prepared by the local lodge/restaurant/hotel. If you are vegetarian, no worries, you can still find the ways.

After lunch, you will resume your work/trek/trip again and end it in the after like around 3-4 pm. After that, you will check in the hotel/guesthouse/teahouse and get refreshed. Take rest, change clothing and go for dinner at around 6-7 pm. Your leader will help you to order the meals you like. At the dinner, your leader will share the important information for the next day’s trip and you can raise the question regarding it. Frequently Asked Questions

For various important reason the Upper Manaslu remains as Restricted Areas in Nepal. The first is due to close border with Tibet / China, where some trekkers might wander and enter the frontier. The next is to preserve its natural beauty of flora and fauna, allowing only limited trekkers in the best seasons of the year.

The other reason is to make Upper Manaslu from Jagat village onwards, as a special area. So only trekkers in group can visit with proper guide and booking with authorized local trekking agencies.

Yes and No, the altitude gains at slow and gradual pace as walk progresses and stopping at designated overnight lodges. At certain altitude helps and support to get acclimatize, the only toughest part of the trek. Is steep long climb to the top of Larke-La Pass, the highest point of the adventure? The hardest walk is just for one day, as well on the first day of trek from Machha Khola to Jagat. Although the altitude does not effect, but walking a long distance can make the trek strenuous for some people. The rest of the trip is pleasant and easier with few uphill and downhill climb.

Yes, nearly all lodges have the facilities of hydroelectricity, some few small villages runs the electricity by solar-power. All trekkers needs to pay extra for charging each electronic gadgets as per hour basis at minimum reasonable cost.

Nearly all overnight stop lodge and guest-house have the facilities of internet and Wi-Fi. But sometime on the mountain the connection is quite slow and disturbing due to terrain and weather wise.

The foods on every meals like breakfast, lunch and dinner are amazingly of best quality, prepared with care and hygienic. All lodge restaurants serves as per the food menu wise on La Carte basis or Set meals of Nepali Dal Bhat (boiled / steamed rice with lentil soup and mild vegetable curry served with pickles).

The foods on the menu includes from Continental, Chinese, Indian to Nepali, some restaurants on treks also provides bakery items as well.

Most popular is Nepali Dal / Bhat, noodle soup or fried noodle with veg and eggs or meats, Mo-Mo dumpling stuffed with meats or vegetable is also popular dishes found on the treks.

It is very important and necessary that all trekkers requires Travel and Medical Insurance. Which should be purchased after or before booking the respective trekking programs with Haven Holidays Nepal. The insurance should be made in your own home countries, which is much easier than in Nepal.

The travel and medical insurance should cover all needful transportation required on emergency evacuation by any means of transportation and using helicopter service. As well all medical expenses, if the trip is delayed and get cancelled due to political disturbance and strikes. As well if the trek needs to be rerouted to other areas in some cases due to bad weather and road conditions.

Manaslu Circuit Trek takes at least 14 days to complete. If you go with more flexible itinerary, it takes 15/16 days to successfully accomplish your Manaslu Circuit Trek.

These 15 days are allocated like this: day one for arrival and other rest of the 13 days will be for the real trekking days in the mountain. Out of them, one particular day will be for acclimatization at Samagaon (3530m) before we go for crossing Larkya La Pass (5160m). This acclimatization day at Samagaon is very essential to let your body adjust new elevation and the surrounding before you go above 5000m. It is the same thing like people do in Everest Base Camp Trek at Namche Bazaar (3440m) and Dingboche (4410m) for two days before heading for Everest Base Camp(5163m) and Kalapatthar (5545m).

Actually, 14 days Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary is very tight schedule and those who have got very sound stamina with high level of confidence can accomplish it or the moderate trekkers need at least 15 or 16 days for Manaslu Circuit Trek. Have 15 or 16 days for your Manaslu Circuit Trek and celebrate this adventure trekking in Nepal is restricted area between Nepal and Tibet. In fact, this trekking trip is distinctly different from other trekking trails like Annapurna Base Camp Trek and even Everest Base Camp Trek.

Ascending above 5000m is always challenging for the trekkers and same goes with Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal. Manaslu Circuit Trek takes the trekkers up to 5160m that is Larkya La Pass, one of the highest mountain passes of the world and offers the absolute thrills of adventure with true remoteness.

Manasalu Circuit Trek is a very challenging trek in the sense that:

    - The trekking trail is located in one of the wildest and remotest areas of Nepal

    - Vast and hardest landscapes with tough ups and downs

    - Deep gorges to cross, descend and ascend

    - Hard to find right and luxury accommodation during the trek

    - Restricted area trekking in Nepal between the border of Tibet and Nepal

    - Sometimes, encounter with weather extremes like heavy rain an heavy snowfall

    - Lack of luxury transportation

    - Crossing Larkya La Pass (5160m) one of the highest passes of the world

However, if you dare to face all these challenges, you will easily conquer over Manaslu Circuit Trek and Larkya La pass as well with marvelous experiences of adventure trekking with astonishing mountain views in Nepal.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Package cost ranges between USD 1500 to 1600 depending on what type of package you go with like: full board meal and BB basis. Actually, if you want a full board meal and accommodation package, the cost will be like around USD 1600 and if you go with only BB ( Breakfast and Bed basis, the cost will be even less than USD 1500, may be like USD 1300-1400 for 15/16 days itinerary.

The full board package cost means, it includes the following things :

    • All Arrival and Departure transfers from airport to airport.
    • Twin sharing room on best tourist standard hotels in Kathmandu with all meals (BLD)
    • Transport Kathmandu to Machha-Khola and from Dharapani to Kathmandu via Bhesisar.
    • Twin-sharing accommodation on best available lodges/Guesthouse includes Breakfast. And you go with a full Board meal it means Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are added
    • Service of guide and Porter as per the size of the group (It means, two people and one porter)
    • Wages, meals, medical allowance of guides and porters.
    • Applicable Special Trekking Permits for Restricted Areas, include MCAP, ACAP and TIMS.
    • Comprehensive Medical Kit carried by our staff if required for minor
wounds and sickness.
    • Farewell dinner in Kathmandu.

If you choose only half board package, then, the trek package includes only :

    • All Arrival and Departure transfers from airport to airport.
    • Twin sharing room on best tourist standard hotels in Kathmandu with Bed and Breakfast only
    • Transport Kathmandu to Machha-Khola and from Dharapani to Kathmandu via Bhesisar.
    • Twin-sharing accommodation on best available lodges/Guesthouse includes Breakfast.

So, in full board package, you don’t need to pay any kind of basic payments like for food, accommodation, guide and porter service, transportation and farewell diner in Kathmandu but in half board package only includes your accommodation with  breakfast and you have to pay extra cost for your lunch and dinner.

In regard of views and landscapes, mountain panoramas, remoteness, wilderness, civilization and local culture, less crowded trail, definitely, Manaslu is better than Annapurna.
