Chitwan is the largest city after Kathmandu of Nepal in Bagmati province. The road distance from Kathmandu to Chitwan is 181.6 km. It takes around 5 to 6 hours of travelling through the road. Through air, Bharatpur airport is the only airport in the region and has flights from or to the capital, Kathmandu. It only takes about 20 minutes of travelling through air. Among the three region it lies in the Terai region of Nepal so, the climate is expected to be hotter than Kathmandu Valley throughout the day. The Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal that was granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 952.63 sq. km. and it ranges in elevation from about 100m in the river valleys to 815m in the Sivalik Hills. The east of the Chitwan National park is Parsa National Park and in the south there is the Indian Tiger Reserve Valmiki National Park. The Chitwan National Park is giving shelter to around 68 mammal species. The king of that jungle is said to be the tigers wandering there. The habitat of the Chitwan National Park is believed to be one of the best tiger habitat in the world. The leopards mostly stay and are found in the boundaries of the park sharing shelter with the tigers. The number of Sloth Bears found in Chitwan is considered very high. Nowadays the population of tigers and rhinoceros are increased and rhinos are often found roaming in the Sauraha village; sometimes around the cities. More than 500 species of birds are found inside the park. Elephants are found easily in the Sauraha village. They are domesticated by the locals living there. Tourists use elephants for making their transportation more thrilling. The elephants are also available for jungle safari and elephant bathing in the side of the river. The elephant canyon can be found easily and a lot of elephants are domesticated there even the babies. There are thrilling adventures activities to do such as boating, jungle walk, Jeep safari and Elephant safari inside the forest and so on. The food people love to eat when they visit Chitwan is Taas. Taas is the dish made by frying goat meat with spices and served along with bhuja or cheura. Cuisines like Newari, Tharu, Thakali, Momo, Fried rice and Sukuti are populara as well but Dal Bhaat still remains at the top. People from different places enjoy the Tharu Culture as they are the local community residing there. There are a lot of Clothing stores, Departmental stores, Coffe shops, Restaurants and bars and guest houses. There are even hotels that offers best accommodation with the utmost hospitality for one’s peacefulness. Inside and around the administrative center of Chitwan, Bharatpur many top rated medicals institutions are situated. Bharatpur is also known to be the medical city of Nepal.
