How long does it take to complete ABC Trek?

It takes at least 7 days means a week time to complete ABC from Kathmandu to Kathmandu. If you are planning to begin it from Pokhara, then, it takes only 5 days to complete ABC Trek.

 If you want to combine Poon Hill Trek with ABC trek, then, it takes 9 days from Pokhara to Pokhara and 11 days from Kathmandu to Kathmandu.

 It doesn’t require any acclimatization days for ABC Trek since it is taken as a moderate trekking trip in Nepal. The people with basic skills of trekking/hiking can easily accomplish ABC trek but requires good preparation.

What is the difficulty level of the ABC trek?

ABC Trek is moderate trekking trip in Annapurna region of Nepal. This trek is to see Annapurna mountain range including Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre ( fishtail). Since it is mild trekking trip, even the beginners with good level fitness and preparation can accomplish this trek conveniently. However, one requires good level of confidence and stamina of at least 7 hours walking a day above 3000m with little backpack with you.

 If you are regular joggers, walkers, hikers and exercise doers, you can conveniently do and accomplish your ABC Trek provided that you accompany with professional trekking crew via authorized trekking comnapy in Nepal. 

Can a beginner do ABC trek?

Yes, even the beginners can do ABC Trek. But, the beginners should be regular joggers, walkers, hikers and regular exercises doers. Beginners with good level of confidence, good level preparations and stamina can easily do this trek.

 Beginners are suggested to go ABC via Poonhill because you can taste yourself at the top of the Poonhill (3210m) if you are ready to go ABC or not. It means, if you have some issues at the top of the Poon Hill, you cannot venture to ABC and if you are okay with Poonhill trek, then, you are all right and okay to go ABC ( 4160m).

Can I reach ABC by helicopter?

Yes, it is possible to travel by helicopter to ABC both from Kathmandu and Pokhara. If ABC Trek is taken from Kathmandu, the travel time via a helicopter is 1.5 hours one way; this will promise some unforgettable vistas of the Himalayan range, terraced fields, and lush valleys. Flights from Pokhara offer an aerial spectacular of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, among other peaks for about 25 to 30 minutes of flight duration.

No, you can't go to Annapurna Base Camp by jeep directly, but you can reach Jhino Danda by jeep. The jeep ride from Pokhara to Jhino Danda covers around 55 kilometers and takes approximately 4-5 hours. The route goes via Nayapul, Birethanti, and Kyumi through very beautiful landscapes.

From Jhino Danda, trekkers have to move upward on foot, as the trail goes up through Chhomrong and other villages to ABC spending at least more 3 days. After the end of the trek, you may choose a jeep ride from Jhino Danda, making it an easy endpoint of starting and ending your journey to ABC.

Can I fly back to Pokhara from ABC by hecliopter?

Yes, you can fly back by helicopter from Annapurna Base Camp, an exciting experience that offers mountain views. This helicopter flight from ABC generally takes around 25 to 30 minutes with breathtaking aerial views of the Annapurna ranges, Machapuchare, and other towering peaks.

The helicopter flight from ABC to Pokhara is a fabulous way to enable trekkers to bypass the lengthy descent that heads back to Jhinu Danda, which makes much precious time you are able to use and enjoy more of Pokhara's beauty, or elsewhere, continuing your journey. The flight will be very comfortable with smooth going and a great chance to observe the striking view of the Himalayas. How long does it take to reach ABC from Jhinu?

From Jhinu, it takes around 4 to 5 days to get to ABC. Here is an overview of an itinerary:

Day 1: Jhino to Chhomrong (2,170) - 5-6 hours
Day 2: Chhomrong to Himalaya (2,920m) - 6 hours
Day 3: Himalaya to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) - 6-7 hours
Day 4: ABC to Bamboo (2,340m) - 6-7 hours
Day 5: Bamboo to Jhino (1,780m) - 5-6 hours

Duration: 5 days of gradual altitude acclimatization, walking through very picturesque villages and forests. Also, people reach ABC from Jhino in 2-3 days as well. This is not good, actually. They may get altitude sickness deu to quick pacing and  excessive elevation gain.

If I take helicopter from ABC, how long does ABC trek take?

Generally, the Annapurna Base Camp takes about 5-7 days to complete depending on the speed of each trekker. From Jhinu, it normally goes this way:

Day 1: Jhinu to Sinuwa (about 2-3 hours)

Day 2: Sinuwa to Deurali (about 5-6 hours)

Day 3: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (about 4-5 hours)

Day 4: Exploration in ABC, then downhill to Bamboo (about 5-6 hours)

Day 5: Bamboo to Jhinu (about 4 hours)

Day 6: Helicopter from ABC back to Pokhara (25-30-minute flight).

This itinerary is a combination of trekking and a helicopter flight, saving time.
